Out and About

Yay for my Dad! Today I went to visit him at his office. Mum sat in the taxi (our driver lives in fear of the police 'fining' him for loitering) while I ducked into Dad's office to meet some of his colleagues.
Then, Mum and I went to the Australian Embassy so Mum could vote and so we could pick up a postal vote for Dad. Mr Rolf, one of our neighbours, is the Electoral Officer for the embassy, and he did his bit for Australia by holding me so Mum could vote. I was in protest in this photo with Mr Rolf... if you enlarge the photo you may see traces of the blue biro I managed to draw over my face and dress while Mum was talking. I wish I hadn't -- Mum did the old 'lick and wipe' with her finger to clean up my face. Ew, Mum.

If you enlarge the photo below, you'll see what exciting little things the man in the background is carrying on his motorbike (kind of like a mobile pet shop!)

This one below is Mum's latest favourite. In preparation for a VERY BIG EVENT coming up in the city soon, there is some 'beautification' going on. On such activity invovles a poor lady with a plastic bucket full of white paint and a straw broom, who walks along the curbs 'painting' them white wih her broom. Mum wishes she could have had the other camera for this shot, so she could get a good close-up of the 'painted' curb. The lady probably doesn't get paid very much and would have a lot on her mind. Life is not easy for many people here. In comparison, my family's life is VERY easy.
